About Me
Hi, I am Tania, founder of Sunset Reflexology
Before training as a reflexologist, I used various holistic treatments, including reflexology as valuable tools to help me to maintain a balance in my own life.
As a mum of three, supporting my husband in his building firm, and dealing with the stresses and strains that come from juggling family life, life’s challenges, and working in a professional office, it took years of being hard on myself to realise that self care is not selfish. Actually by embracing self care, I became better at all of the above!

Where my Reflexology story began...
During the pandemic years, I found that of all the complementary therapies, reflexology was the one that I missed the most. Unfortunately my reflexologist did not return to practising after the pandemic, but she did sow a seed that perhaps I would make a good therapist myself.
The thought stuck and having been inspired, and in awe of this wonderful treatment, In 2021 I decided that I would sign up with the Devon School of Reflexology to embark on my own journey to become a reflexologist. 12 months later I qualified with a level 3 diploma and a distinction from the Devon School of Reflexology!
The Association of Reflexologists (AOR)
As a member of reflexologists (MAR), I have undertaken to meet the strictest standards for professional practice in Reflexology. I can confirm that I am insured to practice with the Association of Reflexologists (AOR).
As holistic practitioners, reflexologists are there to support you as a whole person and promote your wellbeing. Reflexologists do not diagnose, prescribe or cure. Reflexology should never be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.

F.A.Q.
Take a look at some questions and answers that I think are the most relevant!
Reflexology is a non-invasive holistic therapy that uses various points found on the feet, lower leg, hands and face to help clear imbalances in corresponding areas of the body. It can be used alongside conventional medicine but it is not intended to replace it.
The art of reflexology is an ancient therapy that has been practiced for over 5000 years, with origins dating back to ancient civilizations in China, India, Native American and African and Aboriginal tribes. However, it is particularly pertinent to western culture right now.
Reflexology is a therapy which can be received by almost anyone of any age, from new born babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between – including those with ticklish feet!
There are some occasions where treatment will not be safe to proceed. These include unstable undiagnosed conditions or pain/infection in the feet or hands themselves.
As your therapist, I will work to treat you as a whole person and not just the symptoms that you may be experiencing. I will consult with you to ensure that all treatment is appropriate and will create a relaxing treatment with positive results.
Reflexology is a very easy treatment to receive; depending on the type of reflexology, the most clothing that will have to be removed will be socks and shoes.
A full medical history will be taken as part of your initial consultation, and you will be asked to sign a consent form agreeing to the treatment. All information will be kept confidentially.
The therapy involves pressure applied to the feet and sometimes the lower leg, hands, ears or face, depending on the type of reflexology chosen. Where there are imbalances, it can feel tender initially but this will pass, and the overall experience should be one of relaxation.
You should allow 90 minutes for the initial treatment, including the consultation. Subsequent treatments will be 45 – 60 minutes.
A course of treatments is normally recommended to treat ailments that have arisen due to the body being out of balance for some time already (if you are experiencing ailments then it is likely your body is out of balance!). Having treatments close together to start with will increase the cumulative benefit of the treatments.
Thereafter, your renewed sense of wellbeing can be maintained by continuing to have treatments every 4 – 6 weeks, or when you feel you need it. Each person is different and so I will discuss your own personal recommendations with you at the initial consultation, and as the treatments progress.
You may experience a mild headache, feeling more tired or emotional, or needing to go to the toilet more often in the day following their treatment. These are normal reactions and should pass within 24-48 hours; these are all encouraging reactions that are part of the healing process. As are a temporary increase in the intensity of your symptoms of any ailment you are suffering from.
After one or two treatments most people feel an improved sense of wellbeing and experience a feeling of deep relaxation.
